Jonathan Meese was born in 1970 in Tokyo, Japan and now lives in Berlin and Hamburg, Germany. His work extends across paintings, drawings, prints sculptures, performances but also surrounds to writing, stage design and directing within the theater and opera field. Major exhibitions were â€žRevolutionâ€ś, 2003 at Kestnergesellschaft, in Hannover, â€žMama Johnnyâ€ś, 2006 at Deichtorhallen in Hamburg, â€žJonathan Meese Sculptureâ€ś, 2010 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami, â€žTotalste Graphikâ€ś, 2012 at Akademie der KĂĽnste in Vienna and at Museum der Moderne in Salzburg (2013).
